We are very excited to be having a show at Northcoast Artists Gallery, for the month of July, where we have been members for a long time. We have lots of new paintings and garden art to share with you. Please come to our First Friday opening on July 5, from 5-8 pm. There will be refreshments. The gallery is open everyday 11-5 pm. I also have three paintings on display at the Redwood Medical Center next to Howard Memorial-Adventist Hospital in Willits. Midnight Moon-Celtic Art for the Garden.
Ann’s paintings in the lobby of the Redwood Medical Center
Ann and Jon have enjoyed collaborating together since they met at San Jose State when Jon was a design student and Ann was studying for -B.A. in Art. In 1974 they started their business, Midnight Moon-Celtic and began showing their work at Renaissance Faires on the West Coast,
and other art fairs.
Celtic Knotwork has long been our inspiration, where one continuous line forms the design on the plaques. Through their symbolic designs, the Celts stressed their connection with nature, and we carry on the tradition. Our goal is to create decorative items for the garden and home that are timeless. The Celts knew that man and our natural world is deeply connected and one cannot exist with out the other. If we take care of the earth, she will be here for many generations to come.

Ann sculpts the original pieces from clay, and then Jon makes a mold so the pieces can be cast. Each piece is hand-cast and colored with cement stains to give them an antique look. Each piece is unique. A clear, protective sealer makes them weatherproof, so they can be displayed indoors or out.
Watercolor has always been my favorite medium. It offers me a challenge because it can be so unpredictable, yet it’s flow and transparency can capture exactly what I want to say in my art. It is the unexpected things that can happen with watercolor that make it such an exciting medium. I like painting natural subjects, sketching and working Plein Air, as well as working in the studio. I also enjoy pen & ink, printmaking, and working with silk and fabric. Each medium offers a different way to express myself.
In 2009 I was honored as the Mendocino County Arts Champion in the category of Artist. In 2014 my watercolor illustrations were included in three books by local authors: Secrets of the Oak Woodlands, Composting Abbie: A Whale of a Story, and The Wind in Me.
In 2015 I received a commission for three paintings for the lobby of the Redwood Health Clinic, part of Howard Hospital/Adventist Health in Willits, and several paintings for the clinic rooms. In 2020 I was commissioned to create a watercolor for the show “Willits, Then and Now,” at the Mendocino County Museum.
I have taught watercolor at Mendocino College for over seventeen years, and will continue in the fall with an onsite and an online class. Before that I taught art at several schools in Willits and Ukiah, including three different charter schools.
Jon Maglinte
All types of photography, from Infrared to Polaroid Transfer prints interest Jon. He studied the Polaroid prints with Kathleen Carr at the Mendocino Art Center. Jon loves photographing nature, and seeing landscape elements from a unique angle.
Jon also enjoys experimenting with concrete, and using mixed media additions like aluminum foil, crumpled paper, and cardboard, to create unusual shapes and texture in the cement. He enjoys the art of layering the cement stains, and has a multitude of concrete stains to use and experiment with.
