Born Doménikos Theotokópoulos in Crete, El Greco’s career spanned Greece, Italy, and ultimately Spain, where he developed a singular style defined by elongated figures, dramatic use of light, and an intense spiritual expressiveness. The presentation will trace his artistic evolution from Byzantine icon painting to the powerful, emotionally charged works created in Toledo, including masterpieces such as The Burial of the Count of Orgaz (1586–1588) and View of Toledo (c. 1596–1600).
