Blake More is a healing artist, poet, teacher and sound therapist who has lived off-grid on California’s coast since 1999. Often called a “renaissance woman,” she works across many disciplines, including poetry, sound healing, art, music, teaching, video and gardening.
Organizer of Third Thursday Poetry and Jazz, Blake is the current Poet Laureate of Point Arena, CA. She also hosts two radio shows, Be More Now (KZYX&Z FM) and Cartwheels on the Sky (KGUA FM). She teaches with California Poets in the Schools and the California Arts Council, has produced 20+ youth anthologies. Her poetry and dance work has taken her to Tokyo, Amsterdam, New York, Los Angeles, and the SF Bay Area, and her writing has appeared in Yoga Journal, Utne Reader, and Tokyo Time Out. She is the author of eight books, including her latest, Dystopia Unplugged: Please Talk Back – poems of resilience and freedom.
She also offers sound baths, private Light Sound Vibration Therapy and drives the Love Sound Bus—a solar powered mobile sensory wellness lab—to festivals and retreats, offering Light Sound Vibration (LSV) Therapy as a safe, drug-free alternative for nervous system healing and deep relaxation.
It is her birthday, so for the first time since taking over as producer of the series in 2002, she is featuring herself as the poet! She is both embarrassed and excited.
The Record serves food and drinks! We have a stage and a public venue. So grateful for Paul and Kim for inviting Third Thursday Poetry & Jazz into their new community gathering pub — and they have chairs!
Third Thursday Poetry & Jazz is supported by The Third Thursday Poetry Group. Poets & Writers, Inc. has lost its small grant funding, so we are open to donations. Please contact blake@arenatechcenter.org to donate.
