Surface Tension

Mendocino Dance Project’s newest work in theaters uses contemporary dance to express the many challenges in today’s world. Surface Tension explores how we find each other and stay resilient amongst the chaos. Artistic director Kara Starkweather weaves together a variety of themes into an evening length performance with dancers Emily Anthony, Priya Birchard, Jessica Curl, Mackenzie Rain, and Natalie Thiel-Gebheim.

Mendocino Dance Project is a dynamic and athletic dance company that brings the power of dance to theaters and outside spaces, on and off the ground. It is committed to helping art thrive in rural communities, bringing inspired work to local and regional audiences, and providing opportunities for people to participate and engage in the arts. Additionally, Mendocino Dance Project offers dance programming in local schools, vertical dance workshops and summer camps in the redwoods, and dance classes for people with Parkinson’s Disease.
